Lion Foundation Songwriting Competition 2013
The Lion Foundation Songwriting Competition is available to all secondary school students years 9 to 13 nationwide.
NZ secondary school students (either singly or as co-writers) are invited to enter ONE original song into this competition. The Top 40 tracks selected by Jordan Luck and our panel of judges will be recorded in professional studios and included on our annual double CD as well as posted online for free downloading and streaming.

All entries must be via an official form. Please read terms and conditions.
Students in Samoan secondary schools are now welcome to enter this competition. Three songs will be eligible for recording and placement on our CD. Best male, female and group song. This link takes you to the Samoa Entry Form for this competition:

Awards:
First Place Award – Trophy and NZ Rockshop $1,000 voucher (and first track on the Play It Strange CD)
David Richwhite Lyric Award – best lyrics
Cheese On Toast Award – best alternative song
Play It Strange PwC School of the Year Award – to the school with the most songs in the top 40
Junior Maioha Award – best Te Reo Māori song
The top 40 songs receive a professional recording studio session to record your song (to the value of $750) for the 2013 Play It Strange CD.
Songs 2 – 40 receive a NZ Rockshop $50 voucher.
