Play It Strange with Vodafone Events Centre and Vector Wero presents a songwriting competition to celebrate the new Vector Wero Whitewater Park for school students, individuals and groups in the Auckland region.

Two divisions:
Primary and Intermediate (Yrs 1-8)
Secondary Schools (Yrs 9-13)

The theme of the song is about the ideals of the Vector Wero Whitewater Park; accepting positive challenges and overcoming obstacles. Vector Wero Whitewater Park is a place where you can discover real cultural and physical challenges that will leave you inspired, challenged and thrilled.

PRIZES:
Primary and Intermediate: 
A day in a professional recording studio in the Auckland region to record your winning song.
Each student on the recording will receive their own CD and a certificate.
Your school will receive a $100 Vector Wero Whitewater voucher 

Secondary School:
$500 NZ Rockshop voucher
Your winning song recorded in a professional recording studio and placed on the annual Play It Strange CD.
Your school will receive a $100 Vector Wero Whitewater voucher

Vector Wero is a world class tourism destination that will engage visitors on all levels to educate, interact and entertain. It is New Zealand’s first facility to offer an artificial river and water course and the only cultural centre of its kind.

Helena Lunt

Helena Lunt is the winner of the Vector Wero Songwriting Competition 2016 for Auckland secondary schools. Helena attends Albany Senior High School in Auckland and her song is “Hold Your Head Up’. She has recorded it at Roundhead Studios and it will be included on our annual album to be posted online. As well Helena received a $500 Rockshop retail voucher and her school received a $100 Vector Wero Whitewater voucher.

The winners of the primary/intermediate Vector Wero Songwriting Competition 2016 are Moriah Williams and Zvaryn Engu-Cordtz from Year 6, Elm Park School with the song 'Rautapu Koutou Wehi' Their prizes are:  A session with our cool Jam Bus to record their winning song. They each get their own CD and a certificate. And their school receives a $100 Vector Wero Whitewater voucher.
